Lecture "Factory tour" Peenemünde
In this presentation, Lutz Hübner talks about the construction of the "Peenemünde Army Test Facility" (Heeresversuchsanstalt Peenemünde- HVA), an army development and testing facility established in Peenemünde in 1936. Under the command of Walter Dornberger, head of the rocket department in the Army Weapons Office, and the technical direction of Wernher von Braun, the first functional large rocket Aggregat 4 (A4, later called "Vergeltungswaffe V2" in Nazi propaganda ) was developed and tested in the restricted military area in the north of the Island of Usedom. With its first successful flight on October 3, 1942, the liquid rocket was the first man-made object to penetrate the space frontier.
Learn more about the overall structure of the factory facilities, the wind tunnel, workshops, measuring house and the test benches where rocket parts and rockets were tested.
