Lecture: Peenemünde - Secret Weapons Forge in the Coastal Forest
The Peenemünde test sites were a center of military research and production from 1936 to 1945. Up to 12,000 people worked on new weapons systems such as the first cruise missile and the first large rocket on 30 km². These were developed as weapons of terror against civilians, largely produced by forced laborers and used as "weapons of retaliation" in the Second World War from 1944. The lecture places the historical events in a broader context and also addresses current social issues.
The lecture will be held by HTM Peenemünde (Hitorisch-Technisches Museum).
