Romantic-Era Female Painters from Dresden — Women’s Lives Between the Brush and Everyday Life
Romantic-Era Female Painters of Dresden
Women’s Lives Between the Brush and Everyday Life
Dresden has been a magnet for painters from all over the world for many centuries.
During the Romantic period, many female artists were also active in the city on the Elbe, receiving instruction either at the art academy or privately from famous painters. Dr. Romy Donath, director of the Kügelgenhaus—Museum of Dresden Romanticism and the Carl Maria von Weber Museum in Dresden, presents the biographies of some of these (almost) forgotten female painters—including selected artists such as Dora Stock, Caroline Bardua, and Louise Seidler. Discover the female perspective on an exciting era in Dresden!
Admission is €5. Tickets can be purchased at the box office of the Kulturforum, Puschkinstraße 12.
