The storm surge heights and circumstances have only been recorded since 1872.
Today, all protective measures
are measured against the devastating flood that year. A stone commemorates the village of Damerow, which was washed away. In December
1913 was the last breakthrough between Koserow and Zempin. One of the
worst storm surges of the century was in November 1995.
