Live music in Hagenow
One of the most exciting voices on the young Scottish music scene returns to Hagenow: together with her top-class colleagues Ian Carr (guitar) and Declan Forde (piano), fiddler Laura Jane Wilkie presents a program that bridges the gap between centuries-old tradition and modern improvisation.
Wilkie, known for projects such as the Kinnaris Quintet and Niteworks, devotes her current work in particular to waulking songs - rhythmic work songs by Scottish women, which she has adapted with virtuosity for the violin. The audience can expect a fascinating mixture of profound melodies from her album "Vent" and rousing Scottish jigs and reels. With Ian Carr, a great of the international folk scene, and the Glasgow jazz pianist Declan Forde, three exceptional musicians meet here for a varied concert experience between Highland roots and urban flair.
We are looking forward to an evening that combines the rugged beauty of the Highlands with the elegance of jazz and the joy of playing folk music!
