After L’art de Passage formed in 1987, artist Gerhard Schöne promptly signed them on as his backing band for his ’88 concerts, resulting in the cult album “Du hast es nur noch nicht probiert – Live.” The following year, they released their first album of their own, the jazz/tango/ world music band’s first album, “Sehnsucht nach Veränderung,” which, with approximately 50,000 copies sold, is the most successful jazz album in the GDR (even nationwide, there are few jazz productions that achieve such sales figures).
Their virtuosity did not go unnoticed by Rio Reiser and Reinhard Mey, among others, who each invited them into the studio to contribute to their albums. Tobias Morgenstern also played the defining accordion part on the smash hit “Kling Klang” as a guest with Keimzeit. As a jazz ensemble, they toured throughout Europe and released 12 albums over the past 40 years. Tobias Morgenstern provided musical support to the artists in the studio with Armin Müller-Stahl and at concerts with Günther Fischer. Following their latest album “Horizon,” released on the long-established Buschfunk label, L’art de Passage is touring our country with their new program and new CD/LP, delivering a more musically eventful experience than ever before.
The artists, who have been playing together for 40 years, bridge the gap between the band’s well-known repertoire pieces and brand-new compositions, blending styles in their signature way—such as tango, jazz, and milonga, Latin, reimagined classical, folk, minimal, and more. Let yourself be captivated by these passionate musicians whose music speaks directly to the heart.
Tickets are available at the Stralsund Tourist Information Center, online via Reservix , and at the box office.
