after the Brothers Grimm A fairy tale for ages 5 and up Premiere09. November 2025
King Helmuth von Pütterich despairs of his daughter. She is arrogant and not friendly to everyone.
King Thrushbeard and his friend Otto knock on the king's gate one evening. They have lost their way in the mists near Vieting's Cave and are waiting to be told where they are. The hospitable king invites them for a supper and has to learn once again how terribly his daughter treats the strangers. Even Hermione, the castle's maid, can't do much about it. Without further ado, the king orders his daughter to accompany the two strangers, who have not yet revealed their identities, and lead them on the right path to the nearest Christmas market. All that is known is that they are traveling around the Christmas markets of northern Germany as bratwurst testers. When Drosselbart and Otto ask the princess to look after a stall selling earthenware dishes at the Christmas market, disaster strikes. A wild hussar rides through the market and destroys all the crockery. Meanwhile, a wedding is being prepared in the castle and the king's daughter is asked to help. So she leaves the market to secretly look for the bridegroom and recognizes: King Thrushbeard. But no bride in sight! How she would love to be at his side now. All's well that ends well? Perhaps ...
The Brothers Grimm adapted the story from Paderborn. In keeping with the town's 800th anniversary, Parchim and the surrounding area will be the setting for this year's Christmas tale.
