Balkan, Ska
Powerful horn sections and driving rhythms come together to create top-notch Balkan ska. GRUPPA KARL-MARX-STADT is here! Of course, wild dancing and a sweaty crowd are included!
Turn off your brain and let your legs take over—introducing GRUPPA KARL-MARX-STADT: What began in Chemnitz in January 2013 has grown into a six-piece band dedicated to “Balkan disco,” influenced by Balkan music, drum and bass, ska, and disco.
Alexey is the band’s frontman and guitarist, whose lyrical jokes—thanks to his
charming accent—immediately resonate with the audience. Tom and Sebastian make up the horn section and etch themselves into the audience’s memory with a powerful brass sound. Tobias and Stephan whip the crowd into a frenzy with the bass balalaika and drums. Nikolay is the youngest band member and thrills the audience with his bayan sounds.
A distinctive mix of sounds accompanies GRUPPA as they take the stage. And then, ideally, this is how it goes: “The audience is sweating, we’re sweating, and everyone’s having fun”!
