Reading with Judith Zander in the exhibition "stumbling and clearing. A forest experiment".
Reading with Judith Zander in the exhibition "stumbling and clearing. A forest experiment". Judith Zander reads lyrical short prose. The texts were written during her stay at Günter de Bruyn's former residence in Brandenburg. The focus is on the forest as a space of experience - between retreat and reflection, observation of nature and cultural interpretation. Zander will read in the exhibition at Künstlerhaus Lukas, which was conceived together with photographer Sven Gatter. This creates a dense, atmospheric narrative in the reading. Afterwards, the author will talk to the audience about the "stumble and lighten" project.
As part of the "Abseits" scholarship, Judith Zander lived and worked in Günter de Bruyn's former home in 2023 - a time between forest solitude, nature exploration and poetic reflection. In the exhibition "straucheln und lichten. Ein Waldversuch", the author reads from the resulting short lyrical prose texts.
Judith Zander, born in 1980 in Anklam, lives as a freelance writer in Greifswald. She studied German, English and history in Greifswald and at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. Her debut novel "Dinge, die wir heute sagten" (2010) was shortlisted for the German Book Prize and was awarded the Uwe-Johnson-Förderpreis. This was followed by the poetry collections "oder tau" (2011), "manual numerale" (2014) and "im ländchen sommer im winter zur see" (2023), the latter of which was awarded the Peter Huchel Prize. She received the Fontane Literature Prize for her second novel "Johnny Ohneland" (2020). Other awards include: 3sat Prize at the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition (2010), Poetry Prize of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft (2015), Anke Bennholdt Thomsen Poetry Prize (2017).
