Folk Music and Women's Empowerment from Saint Petersburg
The four experimental ladies of Iva Nova from Saint Petersburg draw their inspiration from Slavic folklore, yet have developed a style that is entirely their own and truly extravagant. Their musical expression is powerfully energetic and spirited, ranging from playful and humorous to feminine and proud. At their avant-garde live shows, anything is possible—from soulful songs to futuristic soundscapes and powerful folk rock. Everything except boredom.
When the accordionist strikes up her instrument, we immediately dream of endless expanses. But when the synth kicks in after eight measures, we instantly feel transported to the subversive spirit of big-city life. They draw on the musical traditions of their homeland, yet at the same time creatively explore every conceivable style, so that at their live shows, anything is possible—from soulful songs to futuristic soundscapes and powerful folk rock.
Admission is €15; €10 for high school students, college students, and people with severe disabilities. This concert is standing room only.
