EXPERIENTIAL WEEKEND: THE CASE OF THE COMMUNITY IN KLEIN JASEDOW
Do you want to live well in a community? Are you seeking clarity about your own abilities and motivations for starting a life in community? Do you live in a community and are looking for inspiration and encouragement to continue growing?
Commonie Klein Jasedow, as a community of inquiry and learning, offers a supportive framework for an intensive journey of discovery: For five decades, the community has been exploring how a good life for everyone—for us humans and the non-human world—can be shaped in the Commonie spirit. Living in the Commonie way means realizing the triad of communal creation, necessary action, and equal partnership.
We’d like to share with you the aspects of community life where we’ve already gained confidence, as well as the challenges that continue to inspire us. We invite you to participate in our learning process and to grow together through essential questions and answers in the flow of practical experiences, reflective conversations, and talking circles.
The following personal questions can be the focus of our shared attention:
- Why am I drawn to the idea of living in a community?
- Who do I need to be in order to live a fulfilling life in a community?
- How can I distinguish between illusion and wishful thinking on one hand, and concrete utopia and reality on the other?
- In what practical way can I live “in the Common” style?
- How must I understand the external world in order to channel my energy toward what is essential?
- How do I realize freedom and connectedness?
The following aspects from the practice of the Commonie Klein Jasedow can be explored:- our history—what brought us together 50 years ago, how our community has developed, and what holds us together today
- what the subsistence perspective and the pursuit of a good life (buen vivir, right livelihood) mean for our communal life
- our way of shaping an equitable coexistence
- the foundations of our shared economy
- the structure and network of institutions and organizations in which the Commonie is embedded.
The seminar is open to people of all ages. Those new to the topic are just as welcome as those with community experience.
