Obesity, diabetes and/or pre-diabetes often occur together and now affect one in four people in Germany. They are also among the most serious health problems, as they greatly increase the long-term risk of musculoskeletal complaints and cardiovascular disease. The quality of life and well-being of those affected are also often restricted. New medications such as weight loss injections promise great success, but often come with side effects. The good news is that medication is not always advisable or necessary. A targeted combination of exercise, appropriate health training and a balanced diet can also be a genuine and effective long-term strategy for dealing with the disease.
