A Literary Walk with Photographer and Archivist Gerhard Weber
Gerhard Weber seeks out and uncovers the history and stories of our city in archives, used bookstores, and through conversations with eyewitnesses. Most recently, he published the magnificent illustrated book *Kempowski’s Rostock*. But the Mann family of writers also left behind some records in the Hanseatic city. Archival records show that the great-great-great-grandfather of Heinrich and Thomas Mann, Siegmund Mann (1687–1772), moved to Rostock in 1711. Even today, the stained-glass windows in St. Marien, donated by the Mann family, tell the story of an influential merchant family. Follow in the footsteps of the Mann family, hear interesting anecdotes, and learn all sorts of fascinating facts about Rostock’s city history, architecture, and literature!
Meeting point: Kuhtor, Hinter der Mauer 2Duration: approx. 2 hours
