Concert and Book Presentation Featuring Works by Robert Kahn and Johannes Brahms
Bawandi Trio:
Patrick Hollich (clarinet)
Alexandre Castro-Balbi (cello)
Mario Häring (piano)
Reinhard Wulfhorst (author of “Idylle und Vertreibung”)
Robert Kahn: “Diary in Sounds” for piano (excerpts)
Clarinet Trio in G minor, Op. 45
Johannes Brahms: Clarinet Trio in A minor, Op. 114
Quite independently of one another, pianist Mario Häring with his Bawandi Trio and our association member Reinhard Wulfhorst, a passionate researcher of Mecklenburg’s musical history, have each discovered the nearly forgotten Jewish composer Robert Kahn for themselves. The result was a wonderful recording of his clarinet trio as well as a book about the years he spent at his “Haus Obdach” in Feldberg and his subsequent expulsion. We will present both to you this evening and juxtapose them with a trio by Kahn’s mentor, Brahms.
