IC FALKENBERG performs and sings his current setlist in a minimalist acoustic version, accompanied only by piano and guitar. He sings his new songs and his hits like “Dein Herz,” “Mann im Mond,” “Eine Nacht,” and “Wunderland,” as well as songs that haven’t been part of his concerts for a long time. Of course, many of the songs have exciting and amusing stories that need to be told.
IC FALKENBERG has been on stage since he was 10 years old. In the ’80s, he was the singer, composer, and lyricist for Stern Meissen. With his hits, he helped the band achieve the most successful phase of its history. At the same time, in the mid-1980s, he rose to become one of the most successful and popular solo artists in East Germany under the stage name IC FALKENBERG, selling over 250,000 copies of each of his first two solo albums during that period. Over 50 years on stage and 29 albums speak for themselves, as does FALKENBERG’s musical diversity.
IC FALKENBERG looks back on a life in which rebellion and self-assertion have always been the driving forces. And on a career—as exciting and full of twists and turns as contemporary history itself. Unfazed by the rules of the music business, IC FALKENBERG delivers multi-layered, atmospherically rich compositions with highly intelligent lyrics; hardly any other German singer writes poetry as abstractly and associatively as he does.
IC FALKENBERG’s concerts are one-of-a-kind moments; he weaves his candid intimacy and poignant melancholy with humorous stories. Despite his challenging themes, he maintains an unobtrusive lightness. He masterfully walks the line, sounding sensitive but never sentimental.
