Lecture by Elmar Koch
Around 2 million German soldiers died in the First World War, including several thousand from Mecklenburg. Even during the war, people began to think about how to commemorate these dead. The war memorials were then mostly erected in the 1920s.
For Bad Doberan, these plans can be documented from 1915, which resulted in the construction or erection of monuments and plaques.
The regional commemorative culture of 100 years ago will be the subject of the lecture.
