Highway to Nashville
Hop in, sit back, and turn up the car stereo: “Highway to Nashville—The Legends of Country Music” takes the audience on a musical journey through more than six decades of country music. Sebastian & Tarakona’s Highway Riders bring together the genre’s great pioneers with the defining voices of past decades and the modern sound of today’s Nashville. The musical road trip begins with artists like Hank Williams, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Dolly Parton. The journey continues with well-known names from the ’80s and ’90s, such as Dwight Yoakam, George Strait, Keith Whitley, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, and Alan Jackson. But the highway doesn’t end in the past: Songs and influences from Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Zach Top, Chris Stapleton, and Ella Langley also demonstrate just how vibrant and diverse country music remains to this day. The focus is not merely on well-known songs, but on the stories and emotions that have shaped country music for generations: love and longing, freedom, new beginnings, and life on and off the highway. Diverse voices and duets continually bring fresh musical colors to the program. Sonically, the show also draws on the genre’s characteristic instruments. Two lead voices are accompanied by the fiddle, pedal steel guitar, and the signature twang of the Telecaster. Piano, bass, and drums form the foundation of the band. The soundscape thus ranges from the original honky-tonk through the Bakersfield sound and New Traditional Country to modern productions from Nashville. “Highway to Nashville” is therefore not merely a nostalgic look back. Rather, the show tells the story of a music that has evolved over decades while retaining its emotional core. Sebastian & Tarakona’s Highway Riders invite you to an evening featuring country legends, modern Nashville sounds, and a love of musical travel. Next stop: Music City—Nashville, Tennessee.
