Award-winning children's theater play
Henry the Fifth tells a story about power and war - and about a young woman who takes her fate into her own hands and changes the course of history. With this play, Annika Schaper (director, play) and Robert Richter (play) won first place at the Freisprung theater festival in October 2025. What convinced the jury was the perfect blend of humor and seriousness, spiced up with sweet punchlines and wild twists.
The rulers in Henry the Fifth are actually still children themselves, they rule in cardboard play castles and their soldiers are balloons. But the conflict is real. Henry, King of England, once again needs more money when he learns that he is entitled to France. Without further ado, he decides to marry the French princess Katherine. But a "cousin nobody knows" also lays claim to the throne - and to Katherine.
The fact that the princess does not actually want to marry either man is ignored. When the English soldiers attack the castle, Katherine has had enough. She frees herself from her story and takes the narrative into her own hands. A play by Ignace Cornelissen with motifs from Shakespeare's drama.
A play for everyone aged 8 and over. The play lasts approx. 50 minutes and the minimum admission is €5.
