HEIN HANNEMANN grows up around 1900 as a young Rostock boy between the quayside and his parents' office business with a good dose of courage and a thirst for adventure. In the meantime, he has grown up and gone to sea - just like his grandfather, the pilot commander from Warnemünde. Now and again, letters from overseas reach his parents' house and Hein's friend Jochen. This is a good time for Mother Hannemann and Jochen to remember all the stories from his childhood and youth and to bring many an experience back to life.
