Book discussion on September 10 at the Stralsund City Library
To mark the 100th birthday of Harper Lee (born April 28, 1926, in Monroeville, Alabama), the Stralsund Literature Circle will read her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel *To Kill a Mockingbird* (original title *To Kill a Mockingbird*, 1960), a classic of American literature made world-famous by the film adaptation starring Gregory Peck.
Maycomb, Alabama, in the 1930s: Eight-year-old Scout grows up with her father, Atticus Finch, a lawyer with an unwavering sense of justice. When Atticus takes on the defense of a wrongfully accused Black man, Scout witnesses what prejudice can drive an entire town to do.
