Colors of the region - art stories from Malchow
Experience the art of Mecklenburg up close: The guided tour "Colors of the Region - Art Stories from Malchow" takes you on an exciting journey of discovery through the Malchow Monastery Art Museum.
Here, the doors open to an exhibition that combines art and history in a special way. In the historically renovated rooms of the former monastery, you will encounter important regional artists and their works - embedded in architecture whose roots go back to the Middle Ages.
In the former refectory, where the community life of the nuns used to take place, the artistic work of Mecklenburg now takes center stage. Works and bequests by Rudolf Gahlbeck, a multi-talented artist born in Malchow who expressed himself equally in painting, music and literature, can be discovered. Equally present is Sieghard Dittner, whose multifaceted work - from paintings and graphics to ceramic works - reflects his close connection to the Mecklenburg landscape.
The artistic spectrum is complemented by Friedrich-Franz Pingel and Peter Hesse, who together create an impressive panorama of regional art.
A visit to this guided tour means more than just looking at art: you will follow in the footsteps of the artists and at the same time embark on a journey through the eventful history of the house - from the aristocratic convent ladies of the 19th century to its current use as a lively place of art.
We cordially invite you to rediscover the colors of the region.
