Experience the fascinating history of one of Rostock's most important buildings!
The former Franciscan monastery, founded in 1242, has been home to the University of Music and Theater since 2001 following extensive renovations. On a tour, the architectural traces of several centuries become visible: you will discover traces of fire from 1677 and learn more about the many uses of the building - from the medieval monastery to the poorhouse and orphanage to modern university use.
You will also gain an insight into selected concert halls. City conservator Peter Writschan, who supervised the renovation work, will guide you through the complex and explain how old and new have been harmoniously combined here.
