Guided hike for the Day of the Tree
Together with the district forester Sven Prabel and the royal district forester Waldemar Jäde, we hike through the forest. We learn interesting facts about flora and fauna, about the healing powers of trees and are active ourselves during the nostalgic physical exercises with Waldemar Jäde.
The Day of the Tree goes back to the activities of the American politician Julius Sterling Morton.
1952 it was also established in Germany by the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald (SWD) to draw attention to the loss of forests caused by the war and by the population. Forest Day is celebrated every year in April and is intended to draw attention to the importance of forests for people and the economy.
Forests determine 80% of all life on earth. They prevent landslides, floods and avalanches, bind CO2 by absorbing climate-damaging greenhouse gases and binding them in their biomass. They are the forest's green doctors for people and are vital, especially with regard to climate protection.
