Somehow, over the years, they never quite fit into any particular mold, yet they managed to stay true to themselves and their audience. A band that cared little about adhering to the original twelve-bar blues structure and instead freely blended blues elements with rock and soul, or even indulged in long improvisations that would have fit much better into the psychedelic flower-power scene.
For 51 years, the band has persistently refined its own style with intelligent lyrics that straddle the line between German rock and, ultimately, blues, thereby building a loyal following.
"Rock 'n' Blues" with a rich history and an eye toward the future.
Events wrote in June 2021: “Down-to-earth honesty! Their name, Maikäfer, sounds like a chronic developmental stage. But what better label could there be for a band? For 30 years, the band’s musical qualities were also utilized by rock legend Mitch Ryder, who lives in Detroit, USA, as he toured Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Sweden) with Engerling.
