Afternoon of song
Paul Gerhardt, one of the most famous theologians to write poetry, died 350 years ago. His texts span the entire span of his life and reach into eternity. They are inextricably linked with the musical settings by Johann Georg Ebeling, Johann Crüger and Johann Sebastian Bach. This afternoon of songs brings to mind Gerhardt's encouraging, praising and comforting words with well-known and unknown melodies. The composers include the aforementioned: Michael Haydn, Friedrich Mergner, Max Bruch and Ernst Pepping. There will also be a world premiere.
