Greifswald Literature Spring 2026
"Germany. A Winter's Tale." Heinrich Heine's travel pictures with the Hermannshof Theater (Wümme)
Puppet theater for the Greifswald Literature Spring 2026
In November 1844, the poet Heinrich Heine is on a journey from Paris to Hamburg across fog-covered Germany. He condenses the events and places he encounters along the way into sharp-tongued verses and also expresses his sadness about the grievances in his home country. The great hopes and visions of the future of the pre-March era have been destroyed. The Restoration ruthlessly dominated people's thinking with strict censorship and intellectual narrowness.
With his travel pictures, Heine gives us an insight into the social life of his time and still amazes us with the topicality of his words 180 years later. A journey through time from 1844 to the present day.
