German Mill Day takes place annually on Whit Monday, i.e. May 25, 2026. The magnificent windmill on our extensive open-air grounds will therefore take center stage on this day.
The earthen hollow was relocated to Alt Schwerin and built in Jarmen in 1843. In 1885, the mill was fitted with louvered sails and a wind rose that turns the mill hood and sails "automatically" into the wind. The vertically positioned king shaft inside drives all of the two grinding gears that still exist today. The mill has been restored and received new, functional mill blades with a diameter of 22 meters in March 2017.
