Man has the possibility and power to decide to do good or bad. Love or hate? This is what "Genesis" traces in the biblical prehistory
The beginnings of the world and mankind - the dance project "Genesis" by the Deutsche Tanzkompanie tells of nothing less. Where do we come from? Why do humans do evil? Dancer and choreographer Vinícius da Silva has long harbored the desire to deal with this subject matter. With live music on organ and piano by Lukas Storch, cantor of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Strelitzer Land and district cantor in the Strelitz and Stargard regions, the dancers of the dance company will bring the prehistory to life on stage in the Borwinheim in Neustrelitz on 6 June. A first impression can be gained on 10 May during the introduction to the work, also in the Borwinheim. When was the last time you studied the Old Testament? The first book of it, Genesis, is the impetus for da Silva's dance project. Don't worry, during the morning we will go on a journey together to the beginnings of creation and discover some astonishing cultural facts. Our understanding of time and creation as the ultimate beginning of the world has perhaps been shaped by modernity, as has our understanding of sin and retribution in the Old Testament. Delving into the environment of the Bible's origins, full of ancient oriental ideas, reveals astonishing things. What do the names Adam and Eve actually mean, so was the first man a man or not? Where can I find this Garden of Eden? Genesis, literally translated as Genesis, refers to the first book of the Old Testament. When it comes to the Bible, the stories of Genesis are usually discussed. In Judaism, it is a frequently referred to scripture and in Islam, the text plays a central role for biblical references in the Koran. Wanting to be like God can be seen as a primal lie of man - the use of violence as a means of self-assertion in behavior towards fellow human beings as an expression of this. On the other hand, there is the power of human love and attachment. Vinícius da Silva's choreography tells of this and creates experiences in dance that go beyond words and music.
