GDR – Resurrection of the Ruins

Dagi, Daggel, and Regina—together, they bring 235 years of zest for life to the stage. Yet these three show business legends have little in common, aside from the fact that they enjoyed their greatest successes back in the 1970s in the East German entertainment industry.

What a coincidence that the first letters of their first names evoke associations with the defunct GDR. And so it seemed only natural to resurrect these ladies from the ruins of that entertainment era with a newly created show program.

All three artists have managed to hold their own in their field since the fall of the Berlin Wall 35 years ago, but a collaborative project like this has never existed before—no surprise, since they aren’t exactly the best of friends and are known to throw a few jabs at each other from time to time. In this program, the “Golden Girls of the East” weave their way through familiar favorites and rediscovered gems, the coquettish and the classic.

Whether the three ladies—who delight in poking fun at each other—will ultimately celebrate their shared happy ending with this show remains to be seen. The only certainty is that every evening unfolds a little differently. The audience is treated to a spectacular mix of sharp-tongued one-liners and unforgettable melodies, in which DAGMAR GELBKE—the longtime stage partner of the legendary Helga Hahnemann—joins forces with the last two true divas of German entertainment, DAGMAR FREDERIC and REGINA THOSS, pulls out all the stops.

Their first concerts in the fall of 2025 were met with great public interest, proving the experiment a success. Acclaimed performances before sold-out houses spoke to the project’s success.
