The East beckons: On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 6 p.m., Stralsund adventurer and author Reinhard Klette will talk about his extraordinary cycle tour through the Baltic States at Stralsund City Library.
What does it mean to travel in a region characterized by political and cultural tensions? Reinhard Klette, author and passionate cyclist, talks about his five-week trip through the Baltic States, which also took him to the Russian part of the region. The tour was an encounter with a region that is caught in the geopolitical tension between Russia and Europe. It was not only the nature and the famous places such as the Curonian Spit or the Luisenbrücke in Tilsit that made this trip special. In numerous conversations with locals, characterized by warmth and openness, Klette felt how much the history and politics of this region still influence people's lives today.
The travel lecture combines personal impressions with a look at the historical and current significance of the Baltic region.
Tickets costing 6 euros each are available at the city library and at the box office. Reservations can only be made at stadtbibliothek@stralsund.de. Reserved tickets must be collected by 31.03.2026.
