Christmas time is actually a time of silence and reflection, until someone came up with the idea that presents are a must.
We are reminded of this every year at the beginning of September, when the last Tropical Sunlotions disappear from the super special offer and are replaced by frosty chocolate Santas: "Oh, Christmas is coming!" And every year on December 23, we watch rushing people pushing overflowing shopping carts through supermarkets as if there will never be groceries to buy again after December 26.

Franziska Troegner was born in Berlin in 1954 and was a member of the Berliner Ensemble for 18 years. She has been working freelance since 1993 and has appeared in around 100 television and cinema films and over 500 radio plays, including the American film production "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" with Johnny Depp.
