Works by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with Georgia Tryfona, soprano | Julia Baier-Tarasova, alto | Stephan Zelck, tenor | Matthias Jahrmärker, bass | Bachchor an St. Nikolai | Kantorei Demmin (KMD Thomas Beck) | Preußisches Kammerorchester | conducted by KMD Matthias Pech
Mass No. 6 in E flat major, D 950, is Franz Schubert's last and most important work. He wrote it in the last year of his life and unfortunately did not live to see its premiere in October 1829. Schubert broke new compositional ground and left behind a work of particular sonority.
Schubert's two compatriots Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart each stand musically on their own and are more than a complement to Schubert's mass.
The outstanding soloists and choirs as well as the Prussian Chamber Orchestra rise to this special challenge and, under the direction of church music director Matthias Pech, guarantee a unique and special concert in the Kulturkirche St. Jakobi Stralsund.
