An event organized by Gedenkort Lindenberg e. V. — Expert presentations and discussion
6th Forum on State Security and Repression at Lindenberg in Neubrandenburg, 2026
THE FUTURE AND USE OF MEMORIAL SITES
An event organized by Gedenkort Lindenberg e. V.
How can a building with a troubled past be preserved while also being meaningfully opened up for the future? The sixth Forum at the Lindenberg Memorial Site invites participants to engage in a conversation about remembrance, architectural changes, and new possibilities for the use of the former Stasi pretrial detention center in Neubrandenburg.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dagmar Jäger ( IU International University of Applied Sciences Berlin) will speak about dealing with existing buildings and a troubled history. Tanja Scheffler (TU Dresden) will present the former MfS district administrations in Leipzig and Halle (Saale) and examine their architectural structures and future prospects. The session will then focus on the joint development of a conceptual design for Lindenberg.
Moderator: Dr. Constanze Jaiser, RAA History Workshop “zeitlupe.”
Presentations and discussion from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Latücht.
