The exhibition will open on July 24 at 5 p.m. as part of the 6th LUPINALE. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend.
Vera Schwelgin is one of Germany’s leading printmakers. Born in Lithuania and raised in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, she prefers to work with the woodcut technique. This printmaking method, which has been part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2018, fascinated her even before she began her art studies.
Schwelgin experiments beyond the bounds of traditional woodcut and has developed her own unique style, which often resembles pastels. Her works on interpersonal relationships, nature, and landscape possess depth; they look beyond the surface and reveal an emotional connection to the subject.
The artist’s works are on view through September 27, 2026.
The exhibition is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. During these hours, the museum’s other exhibition areas and the visitor information center of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve River Landscape Elbe are also open to the public.
