Screening of the documentary "Leave or stay: My life after Assad's fall" by Sulaiman Tadmory and others, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker about conditions for refugees to stay in Germany.
Sulaiman Tadmory fled the civil war in Syria in 2015. He now has a German passport, works as a journalist, lives with his family in Hamburg and has German and Syrian friends. In his documentary, he talks to his mother and friends about why some people want to stay in Germany and others go back to Syria. He has now been to Syria, seen the horrific destruction and considered whether he should take a job as a journalist there. But Germany has become his second home. How does he decide for himself?
We talk about what we can / must do so that people can stay if they want to, so that they can really decide freely. We also want to talk about Germany's role in wars and conflicts. What can / must we do so that people can live in decent conditions in their home country?
