Darß Nature Film Festival 2026, "Beacon" Program Section

The underwater world of Lord Howe Island is unique, and hundreds of species found only here live on land. But rats introduced to the island threaten this paradise—until the islanders take action. After a battle lasting nearly two years, the rodents are defeated. Suddenly, species that were thought to be extinct begin to reappear. The Miracle of Lord Howe is proof of how humans can destroy nature—and how they can save it.
