An unassuming stream in the Thuringian Forest tells the story of an entire ecosystem. What at first glance appears to be a narrow strip of water turns out to be a lifeline for a multitude of plants and animals. From the invisible microorganisms in the water to the forest’s large mammals, the stream connects habitats, seasons, and food chains.
