For over ten years, Norwegian filmmaker Asgeir Helgestad has followed the extraordinary life of a female polar bear named Frost, a mother struggling to raise her cubs in a rapidly changing Arctic. What begins as mere observation gradually evolves into an intimate journey filled with the struggle for survival and love, conflict and loss, in which Asgeir Helgestad transforms from a silent witness into a storyteller.
Driven by a deep connection to nature, he seeks to highlight the devastating effects of climate change on Frost’s home: Svalbard, the place warming the fastest in the world. As he grapples with the consequences of human action, he reflects on his encounters with Frost and asks himself: Can empathy and understanding bridge the gap between humans and animals before it’s too late?
