For lovers of sophisticated applied arts, a visit to the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage city of Wismar in early October is a must.
For the fourth time, the Landesverband Angewandte Kunst MV e.V. invites you to the Fangfrisch Fair in the light-filled former industrial hall—the Market and Event Hall at the Old Harbor.
Over 50 artists will present their works, which are always characterized by an understanding of art, a spirit of experimentation, creative skill, and masterful craftsmanship. Their works invite visitors to discover, acquire, use, and preserve them for the future. The works on display at this exhibition span the fields of graphic art, vessels, toys, jewelry, wood, textiles, wickerwork, glass, photography, metal, plastic, and sculpture. They fall under the category of applied arts and can be bold and edgy, refined and timeless, modern, and boundary-pushing.
INVENTION – How Does the New Come into the World?
At the “Fangfrisch” panel discussion on Saturday evening, panelists will examine the future significance of art and applied art from various societal perspectives. Applied art at the intersection of the known and the unknown: Inventing—how does the new come into the world? In an open discussion, we’ll reflect on the conditions that give rise to the new and explore how the future might take shape.
“Fangfrisch Locals” are participating for the second time this year. Cultural and art venues in the Hanseatic city are networking during the fair.
Through special exhibitions and events, they develop their own responses to the shared theme and offer insights into their studios, galleries, and
workshops.
