On May 27, 2026 at 6 p.m., an expert discussion on the topic of domestic violence will take place at the Green Office Stralsund, Alter Markt 7. Ulrike Bartel, Managing Director of the organization Stark machen e. V., operator of the local women's shelter and advice center, will be available for this discussion. The aim is to prepare political initiatives by the BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN + DIE PARTEI parliamentary group to counter the increasing number of cases of violence against women and children in Vorpommern-Rügen.
The expert discussion will analyze current local protection structures, identify existing needs and discuss concrete options for action for the district. The discussion will also focus on the implementation of the Istanbul Convention and the planned introduction of a Violence Assistance Act at state level. Police statistics show a significant increase in cases, particularly in Vorpommern-Rügen, which means there is an urgent need for action.
