The unterstrichMetzgerei cordially invites you to the exhibition "Carving and Oxidations" (pictures and objects) by Kurt Nägele
In the process known as "carving" by artist Kurt Nägele, up to 50 layers of acrylic paint are applied to a wooden support.
It is an addition of color while simultaneously concealing another. The layers of paint only become visible again when the individual layers are removed with a carving iron.
"Carving" is a continuous process of adding and removing until the object is finished.

The fascination of change, which can only be influenced to a limited extent, is an exciting theme in painting.
In my "Oxidation" series of works, I use the decomposition and ageing of iron/steel and copper that occurs in nature.
The rust-red and brown color gradients of the iron, mixed with the patina green of the copper, form contrasts and harmonies at the same time.
In the current works, the oxidation is combined with pasty areas of oil and acrylic paint.
