Roland Spiegel, born in Colditz in 1936, completed an apprenticeship as a painter in Grimma from 1951 to 1954 and later studied from 1956 to 1959, the aesthetics of photography under Dr. Bernhard Beiler at the College of Applied Arts in Magdeburg. He then moved to Wolgast, where he worked, among other things, as a poster painter and later in retail as a technologist and technical director.
He exhibited his watercolor paintings, created over the decades, in Potsdam, Colditz, Stralsund, Wustrow, Wolgast, Barth, and Swinemünde, among other places.
Roland Spiegel passed away in Wolgast in 2020.
A selection from the large collection of paintings from his estate is on view in an exhibition at the Haus des Gastes through July 20, 2026.
The exhibition opening will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.
