Sat. 07.03.2026, 15:00, Volkskundemuseum Schönberg: Exhibition opening: "Erinnern an Reuter" - With the Plattdütschen Verein to Rehna e.V., followed by K
The Folklore Museum cordially invites you to the special exhibition: "Remembering Reuter" from March 7 to June 21, 2026. During this time, we are remembering the Mecklenburg writer Fritz Reuter (1810 - 1874), whose literary works were well known far beyond the state's borders and still are more than 150 years after his death. His works are still widely read and performed in Low German or in High German translations. They have also been translated worldwide. It is not only in Mecklenburg that streets and public buildings are named after him, awards bear his name and there are Fritz Reuter memorials.
Fritz Reuter, "uns Fritzing", was a great storyteller who wrote and told stories with his great knowledge of human nature. It is thanks to him and others that Low German is a literary language.
This exhibition sets out on a search for traces of Fritz Reuter, his work and its reception, and what makes him so special that he has not been forgotten to this day.
We would like to thank the Mecklenburg Foundation for the kind loan of this exhibition.
