and the reopening of the Red Pavilion following its renovation
The Red Pavilion on the Kamp is one of the most distinctive buildings in Doberan’s historic center. In recent months, it has been given a new roof.
Several of the old roof’s wooden shingles—some of which were rotting and covered in moss—could be salvaged. Artists from the art association and other visual artists associated with the Red Pavilion have given them a new lease on life—as works of art. The artists’ styles are as diverse as their works: painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture. All created with and on wooden shingles.
Under the title “METAMORPHOSIS—From Roof Shingles to Works of Art,” they will be on display at the Red Pavilion from October 10 to December 12, 2026. The exhibition is open Wed–Sat from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; admission is free.
The Art Association, together with the City of Bad Doberan and the participating artists, invites you to the exhibition opening and the reopening of the Red Pavilion. Admission is free. On Culture Night, the Red Pavilion will be open until 10:00 p.m.
