The AGRONEUM Alt Schwerin is a very special kind of open-air museum: not built on a greenfield site, but has grown since 1963 in the midst of authentic historical substance.
In addition to an extensive collection of technology and everyday objects, visitors will also find farm workers' homes from 1910, 1942 and the 1960s. Visitors walk through the entire village to explore the museum. From the church with its base from the 13th century, the estate complex with manor house, caretaker's residence, large granaries and stables from the 19th century to an apartment belonging to an LPG member from the 1970s. The conceptual integration of these "trendy objects" has proved successful and is gratefully received by visitors. The large outdoor area with village smithy, wheelwright's workshop, Dutch windmill, sawmill, ropery and field railroad rounds off the entire museum ensemble and is also the central venue for the almost monthly museum festivals, where agricultural history is presented in a lively way.
