Annett Renneberg reads from Eva Nagler's account of the death march from Königsberg to Palmnicken and the mass shooting from January 31 to February 1, 1945. Uwe Neumärker adds historical context to the reading.

On June 2, 2026 at 7 p.m., a reading will take place in the auditorium of the Theodor Bauernmeister School to commemorate one of the darkest chapters in German history. Annett Renneberg will read from Eva Nagler's impressive report "Mass Murder on the Baltic Sea Beach" about the death march from Königsberg to Palmnicken and the mass shooting on the night of January 31 to February 1, 1945.

On this night, more than 4,500 people, mainly Jewish women from Poland and Hungary, were murdered by the SS and foreign helpers. Eva Nagler, one of the few survivors of this crime, has recorded the suffering and injustice of that time in her testimony.

Uwe Neumärker from the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe will add historical context to the reading and place the events in the context of the overall history. The event provides an opportunity to remember and commemorate the victims.

Admission: 8 € | reduced: 6 €
