Exhibition series Artists of the V.R.K. in dialog with positions of contemporary art
Although Erich Venzmer (1893 - 1975) was born in Rostock, he had lived and worked in Schwerin since 1923. He remained attached to his native city and when he made his debut as a painter in 1927 as a member of the Rostock Artists' Association in its highly regarded annual exhibition, he was welcomed as a welcome addition to the city's art scene. In the exhibition catalog, the art historian Oscar Gehrig attested to the landscape painter's "lyrical touch", which he expressed in "sonorous, soft colors" and "subtle forms" with a "genuinely Nordic demeanor".
In a figurative sense, the artists Tanja Zimmermann (Klein Warin, born 1960) and Linda Perthen (Penzlin, born 1981), who work in Mecklenburg, could also be described as "landscape artists"; as "soul landscape artists". Their painterly and graphic notations in lines and colors are an expression of the questioning and reflection of human existence and world experience.
