Chansons for eternity

Edith*

Jacqueline Boulanger(voc)Robert Nersesov(p) and Michael Bahlk(b)

Even today, Edith Piaf's songs have lost none of their original charm. They reflect longing, through which despair always shimmers, deal with love, happiness and parting, in short: with human existence!

They are reminiscent of an unmistakable voice, of milestones in the art of chanson, of a woman who exhausted herself with disturbing speed and who could emit the cry of the whole earth on behalf of us all. A deeply poetic figure who, at the end of her life, will have said everything that mattered to her.

Jacqueline Boulanger, of Afro-French origin, born in Germany, winds her way through the chaotic life and immeasurable legacy of the queen of chanson with amusing, moving anecdotes, whose story and fascinating power cannot fit into one evening.

Instead, the singer has entered into a musical liaison with Georgian-born pianist Robert Nersesov and Rostock-based double bassist Michael Bahlk. The trio literally breathes new life into Piaf's songs.
