Lecture Series “Romanticism in Focus: Art Around 1800 and Its Reception”
This fall, the Caspar David Friedrich Society (e. V.) cordially invites you to a lecture series titled “Romanticism in Focus: Art Around 1800 and Its Reception.” The series aims to broaden perspectives on fascinating topics related to Romanticism and its influence on European art. The events will take place on the fourth Wednesday of every month and are designed to provide art enthusiasts with an opportunity to engage in conversation with one another.
In the second lecture of the series ,Dr. Birgit Verwiebe will address the topic “Wanderlust: The Motif of Travel in 19th- and Early 20th-Century Art.” The art historian previously served as curator of 19th-century paintings at the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin. The event will take place on October 28, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Alte Feuerwehr.
