The new documentary about the past and present of spring in Demmin.
For decades, far-right extremists have marched through the small town of Demmin on May 8 to commemorate the “victims of World War II”—even though the town was the site of one of the largest mass suicides in German history, triggered by Nazi propaganda. But democratic civil society is standing up to this and organized a counter-protest in 2025 with thousands of participants.
A film presented as part of the exhibition “THEN, TODAY, HERE—Women in Resistance Against National Socialism” about the memory and present-day reality of the Demmin Spring.
